  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring (gel)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Candy fangs and red edible gel for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and red food coloring.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternating with buttermilk until combined.
  4. Stir in baking soda mixed with vinegar, then fill muffin cups about two-thirds full. Bake for 18-20 minutes and cool completely.
  5. Hollow out the centers of each cupcake and fill with the creamy filling made from cake crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and red food coloring.
  6. Frost with skin-tone buttercream and decorate with candy fangs and red syrup.
