  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small carrot, diced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (or substitute)
  • 2 unbaked pie crusts (9-inch)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Add onion, garlic, and carrot; cook until softened.
  3. Stir in flour and coat evenly. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce along with salt, black pepper, and thyme. Simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Place one pie crust into a pie plate and pour in the filling. Cover with the second crust; crimp edges and cut slits on top for steam escape.
  5. Brush with beaten egg and bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Let rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
