  • 1 heaping cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chai spice blend (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients by taking out butter, cream, and eggs from the refrigerator.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, one egg, and one egg yolk; chill in the freezer.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spices, and salt in a food processor; pulse to mix.
  4. Cut in cold butter until small pieces form; retain some larger chunks for flakiness.
  5. Gradually pulse in the chilled cream and egg mixture until dough forms.
  6. Chill dough wrapped in plastic wrap for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out dough; cut into desired shapes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Bake scones for 20-22 minutes until golden brown; cool before glazing.
  10. Make glaze by whisking powdered sugar, chai spice blend, vanilla extract, heavy cream, maple syrup, and salt until thickened; dip cooled scones to coat.
