  • 5 tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Halloween M&Ms (plus extra for decoration)
  • 3 tbsp Halloween jimmies (plus extra for decoration)
  • Candy eyeballs for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, black cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter with light brown sugar and granulated sugar until fluffy (about two minutes).
  4. Mix in egg yolks and vanilla extract until pale in color (about two minutes).
  5. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in Halloween M&Ms and jimmies using a rubber spatula.
  7. Scoop dough into balls on prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart; decorate with extra M&Ms and candy eyeballs.
  8. Bake for about 10-11 minutes or until edges are set; allow to cool for five minutes before transferring to wire racks.
